Job Description

Lincoln Christian School is seeking a passionate and visionary educator to join our team as our Secondary Band Director. This is a rare opportunity for a teacher who wants more than a job, someone who wants to design, develop, and continue a band program with full administrative support, strong community backing, and resources dedicated to program success, all while integrating the Truth of the Gospel into every aspect of musical education and student growth. This position could be full or part-time based on availability.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES – Secondary Band Director

  • Planning and presenting lessons to facilitate students’ understanding and application of musical concepts from the biblical perspective, with a strong emphasis on the application of biblical truth into the life of each student.
  • Preparing and distributing learning material such as sheet music, assignments, and assessments.
  • Sourcing the resources and supplies needed for lessons, including instruments and equipment.
  • Ensuring that the classroom remains safe and conducive to learning. Maintaining order in the classroom, teaching students to respect authority, and respecting other students in the school. When necessary, the teacher should involve the principal, guidance counselor, and especially the parents.
  • Grading assignments and assessments in a timely manner.
  • Invigilating assessments and final performances.
  • Documenting and reporting on students’ progress.
  • Attending meetings with parents and staff.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relations with each member of the staff and demonstrates a sincere desire to work with others to provide a team effort in working with the students.
  • Lead and develop instrumental programs beyond the classroom (e.g., jazz band, marching band, pep band) that support school events, impact school spirit, and strengthen school culture.
  • Coordinate and ensure consistent band participation at athletic contests, pep rallies, and key school functions in alignment with Lincoln Christian’s mission.
  • Plan, rehearse, and execute high-quality performances that promote excellence, teamwork, and school pride.
  • Shall carry out additional responsibilities assigned by the principal and superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education with a specialization in music, or equivalent for the State of Nebraska.
  • Proven experience as a Band Director.
  • A thorough understanding of best practices in teaching.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, flexible disposition.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
