Pediatric Hospitalist Physician Assistant

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is an award-winning health system recognized for its commitment to delivering high-quality health care, especially in behavioral and mental health. We are searching for a dedicated Pediatric Hospitalist Physician Assistant to join our team in the Pediatrics department, specifically focused on enhancing care for our Center of Excellence for Child & Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Care.

In this essential role, you will provide expert medical coverage and support for all CHA child and adolescent psychiatry inpatient units. Your work will significantly impact the immediate and continuous medical management of pediatric and adolescent psychiatric inpatients, ensuring that physical health assessments and management are integrated into their psychiatric treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough Histories & Physical examinations for new admissions within 24 hours.
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to address both new and ongoing medical concerns (such as metabolic changes and side effects).
• Order necessary diagnostic tests and lab work related to general medical health, ensuring timely review of results.
• Coordinate communication with both internal and external pediatric medical specialists (e.g., Endocrinology, Neurology, Orthopedics).
• Evaluate medical necessity for emergency transfers and efficiently coordinate with receiving emergency department providers.
• Provide informed medical advice to the psychiatry team regarding complex referral acceptances.
• Ensure clear and comprehensive sign-out of all active medical issues and follow-up items to Pediatrics colleagues and psychiatric teams at the conclusion of your shift.

Schedule:

• 7 days on, 7 days off from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
• Overnight coverage will be managed through home call; in-person evaluations may be necessary during emergencies.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program with a valid MA PA license.
• Experience in pediatric hospitalist medicine is required.
• Previous work with behaviorally and neurodevelopmentally complex children and adolescents is preferred.
• Must reside within a 60-minute commute to ensure availability for emergent situations while on duty.

The guaranteed base salary ranges from $114,000 to $171,000, based on experience.
