Job Summary:

The Counselor-Future Teacher Program/Summer Learning Academy is for a high school junior/senior or early college student interested in pursuing a career in Teacher. This position works directly with students under the direction of a Lead Teacher and Para to provide high quality and engaging instruction as well as attends various professional development session to learn about the field of Teaching.

Responsibilities

• Attend mandatory pre-summer professional development.
• In coordination with the teacher, deliver intentional and engaging academic instruction to students with focus on mitigating school year learning loss/preventing summer learning loss
• Provide small group or individual student support.
• Help ensure all outcome goals are on track to be met, including academic outcomes and social-emotional skill development outcomes.
• Assist with classroom management of students.
• Assist and supervise campers in all aspects of self-care, including dressing and undressing, eating, grooming and hygiene, toileting, and any other areas of daily living. If your camper is self-sufficient in these areas, close supervision and monitoring are still required.
• Attend professional development sessions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Training:

• Minimum of age 16.

Minimum Experience:

• Interest in a career in teaching.
• Prefer experience working with children (i.e. babysitting, volunteering, etc.)
• Commitment to learning to effectively work with children with and without disabilities.
