Purpose of Position
Under the direction of the Nurse Practitioner and supervising Physician, assumes responsibility for all aspects of exercise and chemical stress testing.

Description

1. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and coworkers.
2. Monitor and evaluate EKG tracings before, during, and after exercise testing.
3. Supervise and coordinate exercise testing protocols, document changes in patient status, treatments, or prescribed medications and response to treatment.
4. Evaluates patients for stress testing, reviews patient charts and interprets physician orders.
5. Terminates tests as may be required by protocols or patient tolerance.
6. Documents changes in patient status, treatments or prescribed medications and response to treatment.
7. Coordinates and schedules stress techs in order to provide adequate staffing levels.
8. Initiates service calls as needed and schedules preventative maintenance when appropriate.
9. Evaluates supply levels and orders supplies as needed.
10. Uses computer system to process studies for charge and billing purposes to ensure physicians interpret EKGs, and to complete documentation in patient's electronic record.
11. Records blood pressures and oxygen saturations, observes patient's condition, and observes monitor for indications of positive tests or other complications.
12. Performs other work-related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English
• Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science
• Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia course or challenge exam
• BLS required
• EKG course or certification required
• ACLS required
• Must complete Radiation Safety training within 1 month of hire and renew annually
