Description:

The YMCA Dance Teacher is responsible for planning and leading safe, engaging, and age-appropriate dance classes that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Dance Teacher creates a positive environment where participants can build confidence, develop dance skills, and express creativity while embodying the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plan and instruct dance classes for participants of various ages and skill levels.
• Choreograph and Plan Dance Routines
• Create a welcoming and supportive environment that encourages participation and personal growth.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during classes.
• Monitor participant progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Communicate effectively with parents, participants, and YMCA staff.
• Plan and execute annual dance recital.
• Ensure dance spaces and equipment are clean, organized, and properly maintained.
• Uphold YMCA policies, procedures, and risk management standards.
• Serve as a positive role model for participants and families.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Dance experience or demonstrated proficiency in one or more dance styles.
• Ability to work effectively with children
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to motivate and encourage participants of varying skill levels.
• Ability to pass required background screenings.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to demonstrate dance movements and techniques.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stretch, and move continuously during classes.
• Ability to work in a physically active environment.
