Role Description
We are seeking a Writer I who will provide editorial support for a variety of strategic marketing and communications projects that enhance the brand and promote the work of the designated school/division/department/center.
The Office of Pre-Professional Programs and Advising serves Johns Hopkins University undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni of the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering pursuing graduate education in medicine, dentistry, other health professions, and law. A central component of service is to write Health Professions Committee Letters, which present a holistic overview of each candidate’s application to medical or dental schools.
Each summer, the Office of Pre-Professional Programs & Advising composes approximately 450 Committee Letters that support applicants to medical or dental school. Writers play a central role in the writing of those Committee Letters. Content Writers convert applicant information into text suitable for use in the Health Professions Committee Letters. Content Writers work remotely and independently; they are responsible for editing their work as they write.
Review of applicants will begin immediately with a proposed start date April 27, 2026. Applicants being considered as finalists will be contacted via email and be asked to submit a draft committee letter as a writing sample.
Compensation: Writers will be compensated $30.00/hr. with the expectation that one letter will take no more than 2.5 hours to complete. Content writers will be compensated for all mandatory training.
