The Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor, plays a crucial role in the development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles. Based in Southern California near the Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) and Marvin Land Systems (MLS). Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment. Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

 

Systems Engineer is responsible for assisting in the research, analysis, management or testing duties related to the design, development, integration, implementation, and quality assurance of products, programs, and systems.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

  1. Provides technical support for all phases of system requirements development, conducting technical analyses, evaluation, and assessment of system requirements, requirements development, documentation, and verification.
  2. Requirements definition, traceability, functional decomposition, verification, and validation.
  3. Support design, develop, test, and implementation of systems and subsystems, adhering to DOD and industry standards utilizing best practices.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze system capabilities, and propose innovative solutions.
  5. Provide technical guidance and mentorship other systems engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
  6. Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies on requirements within system and subsystem for electro-mechanical devices.
  7. Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and proposals to customers and stakeholders.
  8. Develop Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP).
  9. Create and manage interface control document (ICD).
  10. Participate in technical and programmatic customer interactions such as System Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR)
  11. Facilitate and contribute to product safety such as Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Assessment (FMECA), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault Tree Assessments (FTA).

 

 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, working with similar electro-mechanical systems.
  3. Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  4. Proficiency in system design and architecture, with experience in system integration and testing.
  5. Familiarity with industry standards and frameworks, such as MIL-STD-810, and RTCA DO-160.
  6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including customers.
  8. Experience with Defense/Military Certification processes and requirements.
  9. Ability to work successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment in fielding of capabilities to Customers.
  10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  11. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  12. Proven track record of providing technical leadership to small, high performing teams.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

  1. Working experience with actuators.
  2. Experience with requirements management tools, such as DOORS NG.
  3. Experience with Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Assessment (FMECA).
  4. Electro-mechanical engineering, with a heavier focus on mechanical systems.
  5. Security clearance or willingness to obtain one, as required for Defense Programs.

 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Travel may be needed to support Customer visits (up to 10%).
