Job Description
Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago is accepting applications for our Summer Youth Art (IACA) Internship from high school students to intern in our Art Studio from June to August. Accepted students will gain real life experience working with children from birth to age 8, engaging them in developmentally appropriate activities in the Adventures in Art Studio.
Interested students should have a demonstrated interest in the arts and enjoy working with children. The Art Studio internship will be approximately 70 hours, 10 hours per week for 7 weeks beginning June 2026 and is a paid internship . Applicants will be notified of acceptance in May, 2026.

Responsibilities:Internship responsibilities will be primarily visitor-facing and artistic in nature. Art Studio interns work directly with visitors in the Art Studio and on art-centered activities throughout the Museum.

Internship activities will take place at Kohl Children's Museum, 2100 Patriot Blvd, Glenview, primarily in the Art Studio.
Internship benefits:Art Studio interns will benefit from this opportunity by acquiring real-life experience working with children and engaging them in developmentally appropriate activities in the Art Studio. Activities for the children in the Art Studio include painting, drawing, collage and monthly art projects. The interns facilitate artistic play experiences between children and caregivers, which also results in personal growth for the interns.
Skills acquired include teaching and engaging children in learning through play. Additionally, interns will have opportunities to create and facilitate art-based lessons/activities for small groups of children.
Art Studio interns will create a portfolio of their work accomplishments, including photos, written descriptions of their work experiences and lesson plans they create. Performance is evaluated regularly, with a summer’s-end review meeting with the Manager of Education and Education Specialists. Museum staff will support interns in reaching their summer employment goals.
