Job Description

Tufts Medical Center is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Radiation Therapist II to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our academic cancer program. In this role, you will deliver high-quality radiation therapy treatments to oncology patients in a fast-paced, collaborative clinical environment that integrates cutting-edge technology, research, and education. As a Radiation Therapist II, you will use advanced linear accelerators and image-guided radiation therapy techniques to accurately implement the prescribed course of treatment, working closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and support staff. You will be responsible for daily patient setup, positioning, and immobilization, verifying treatment fields, and operating imaging systems such as cone-beam CT and on-board kV/MV imaging to ensure precise localization of targets and critical structures. You will review and interpret treatment plans, verify parameters, and perform required pre-treatment checks, adhering strictly to departmental protocols, quality assurance standards, and radiation safety regulations. As an experienced therapist, you will assist with complex procedures including IMRT, VMAT, stereotactic radiosurgery, and stereotactic body radiotherapy, and will help troubleshoot equipment and workflow issues in coordination with the physics and engineering teams. This position requires strong technical skills alongside a deep commitment to compassionate patient care. You will educate patients and families about the treatment process, expected side effects, and self-care strategies, while monitoring and documenting patient responses and escalating concerns to the clinical team as needed. You will contribute to maintaining accurate and complete electronic medical records, ensuring correct charting, verification, and documentation for each treatment session. At Tufts Medical Center, you will be part of a culture that values collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation. As a Radiation Therapist II, you will mentor students and less experienced therapists, participate in training on new technologies and techniques, and may support departmental quality improvement and research initiatives aligned with our academic mission. You will uphold infection control practices and safety procedures at all times, participate in daily machine warm-up and basic quality checks, and respond appropriately to emergency situations involving patients or treatment equipment. Working on-site in Boston, you will join a diverse, multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing community health and delivering evidence-based, patient-centered cancer care. Tufts Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, retirement options, and opportunities for professional growth within a supportive, innovative work environment.
