Job Title: Multifamily Construction Project Engineer

Location: Allen, TX

Type: Full-Time, Office, Salary, Exempt

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail‐oriented, highly organized Project Engineer to support our multifamily construction projects from concept to completion. This role provides essential coordination between office and field teams, ensuring that schedules, documentation, subcontractor scopes, and quality expectations are maintained across multiple multifamily buildings and amenities. The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and design consultants to support the successful delivery of complex multifamily projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Administration & Documentation

  • Review and process pay apps.
  • Maintain accurate project logs including RFIs, submittals, ASIs, PCOs, and subcontract change orders.
  • Track drawing updates across multiple projects and coordinate distribution to subcontractors.
  • Review subcontractor pay applications reviewing previous and current to verify percentages complete versus paid to date.
  • Review contracts and change orders to verify contract amount related to paid to date prior to release of retainage
  • Maintain Punch Lists and Closeout through warranty period.

Multifamily Coordination Responsibilities

  • Work with operation teams to facilitate submittals,
  • Maintain Purchase Order Log and Delivery Log for various projects while communicating with field operations delivery dates and equipment requirements to take deliveries.
  • Support building inspections by scheduling, coordinating reinspection’s and documenting passed inspections for inspections throughout build process.
  • Coordinate across vertically integrated phases (Precon, Development, Construction, Closeout, Warranty).

Field & Subcontractor Support

  • Participate in routine site walks with Site Team to document progress.
  • Assist where needed with daily coordination/correspondence of subcontractors to keep trades aligned with the project schedule.
  • Document field conditions, track deficiencies, and support punch list creation/closure for unit turnovers.

Scheduling & Procurement

  • Assist the Project Manager in maintaining the master schedule, unit‐by‐unit completion tracking, and critical path activities.
  • Coordinate procurement and delivery of long‐lead materials such as windows, appliances, cabinets, doors/hardware, and roofing systems.
  • Monitor vendor lead times and adjust tracking tools to ensure timely distribution across buildings and floors.

Cost Control & Reporting

  • Support budget tracking and cost forecasting to ensure project financial health.
  • Assist with evaluating change orders and verifying field impacts.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports summarizing progress, safety, risks, and schedule status.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s program working towards a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Proficiency with construction software such as Procore , Bluebeam , MS Excel , and Outlook .
  • Strong understanding in reading construction drawings, trade scopes, and multifamily sequencing.
  • Excellent communication skills with subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‐paced environment with multiple buildings under construction simultaneously.
  • Must be available Monday–Friday 8am–5pm, with flexibility based on project progress.
  • Ability to work on active construction sites, walk multiple floors daily, and climb ladders/stairs as needed.
