Job Summary Newcastle Public Schools is seeking an energetic and dedicated Assistant Band Director to help lead our award-winning instrumental music program. This role is pivotal in fostering musical excellence across both Newcastle High School (NHS) and Newcastle Middle School (NMS). The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Bands to instruct students, manage rehearsals, and support a culture of pride and discipline within the "Pride of Newcastle."
Key Responsibilities Instruction: Co-teach and lead rehearsals for marching band, concert bands, and jazz ensembles.
Sectional Leadership: Lead specialized sectional rehearsals to improve technical proficiency and musicality.
Marching Arts: Assist with the design, choreography, and instruction of the competitive marching band season.
Travel & Events: Attend and supervise students at all football games, contests, parades, and regional/state festivals.
Administrative Support: Assist with uniform management, instrument inventory, music library maintenance, and booster club communication.
Job Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or a related field from an accredited university.
Certification: Valid Oklahoma State Teaching Certification in K-12 Instrumental Music (or eligibility to obtain).
Experience: Previous experience with competitive marching bands and middle school pedagogy is highly preferred.
Skills: * Proficiency in conducting and score study.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to inspire and mentor students of diverse skill levels.
