WellSpan Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist/MLT/POC professional to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our clinical laboratory and point-of-care testing program. As part of a leading regional healthcare system serving South-Central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland, you will contribute directly to high-quality, patient-centered care across hospitals, outpatient centers, and primary care practices. In this role, you will perform a wide range of clinical laboratory and point-of-care (POC) tests, including hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, immunology, and other routine diagnostic procedures, following established protocols and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for accurate specimen collection, labeling, processing, and analysis; operation, calibration, and routine maintenance of laboratory analyzers and POC instruments; and timely review, interpretation, and reporting of test results to support clinical decision-making. A key focus of this position is ensuring accurate and reliable POC testing at the bedside and in ambulatory settings. You will collaborate closely with nursing, providers, and other members of the care team to train, support, and monitor non-laboratory staff performing POC testing, assist with competency assessments, and help maintain quality standards for devices used throughout the organization. You will actively participate in quality control and quality assurance activities, including running and documenting control materials, recognizing shifts or trends, troubleshooting equipment or reagent issues, and escalating concerns appropriately to ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and WellSpan Health policies. You will adhere to strict safety and infection control practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling and disposal of specimens and biohazard materials. Daily work will involve effective use of the laboratory information system (LIS) and electronic medical record (EMR) to receive and track orders, validate and release results, and communicate critical or unusual findings to providers and nursing staff. Experience with laboratory analyzers, quality control principles, and regulatory standards is highly valued, as is experience in training or supporting staff performing POC tests.
