Job Description
The Lake Rentals Supervisor plays a key leadership role in ensuring smooth, safe, and guest-focused operations at our lakefront rental location. Building on core responsibilities such as overseeing off-site kayak rentals, managing daily opening and closing procedures, and coordinating equipment care, the Supervisor serves as the primary point of support for both guests and team members. In addition to on-site duties, the Supervisor also plays an important role in advocating for and promoting our main location in Lemont, helping guests discover the full range of experiences we offer. This position demands strong organizational skills, a proactive approach to safety, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional outdoor experience. As a visible on-site leader, the Lake Rentals Supervisor helps maintain operational excellence, fosters a welcoming environment, and ensures that every guest enjoys a seamless and memorable visit.
This position will split work between Maple Lake (Willow Springs, IL) and Whalon Lake (Bolingbrook, IL).
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lake Rentals Supervisor responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Whalon / Maple LakeKayak Rentals Opening / Closing procedures
Keyholder - Opening / Closing containers or facilities
Knowledge and proficiency in kayaking, including but not limited to: proper paddling techniques and kayaking safety standards.
Provide support during staff training and onboarding
Acts as supervisor during regular operations
Acts as primary responder in rescue and emergency scenarios
As needed will assist with the maintenance of boats and equipment
Acts as a “floater” and fills in wherever needed depending on staffing needs and guest count
Assists in identifying staffing needs (calling off staff, cutting staff, calling staff in, etc) as it relates to inventory, budget, guest satisfaction, safety, and company goals
Consistently communicates with the Director of Operations regarding operations, any pending concerns, guest escalations, activity materials needs, and/or any other needs related to the successful operation of the activity
Ensures all assets associated with the activity are in good working order and are properly secured when not in use. Keeps working areas organized, neat, and tidy
Maintains inventory of all assets and reports maintenance issues and needs to The Forge leadership team in a timely manner.
Informs management of any/all incidents; if necessary, reports said incident within 24 hours of its occurrence
Addresses guest escalations as needed
Enforce alcohol sale and distribution in accordance to The Forge policies and local/ state laws
Will be responsible for following Lemont Quarries Operations cash policies.These include safe management, change requests, and preparing deposits daily.

The position may require you to work alone several days a week, must be a self starter and work well with little to no immediate supervision.

Timely addresses performance or behavior that falls below acceptable standards or fails to serve the success of the individual, team, or company
Documents and notifies the Director of Operations of any and all employee disciplinary action within 24 hours of addressing any issue
Submits all required documentation including end of day reports, timesheet approvals, sales reports, etc. in a timely manner
End of day reports are expected to be submitted by the end of business day
Encourages constructive discussions, and does so with other members of Forge Leadership
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Meets participant requirements
Must have a basic standard of physical fitness, endurance, communication skills and manual dexterity. Position requires the ability to reach, climb, lift, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds, as well as standing for extended periods
Must be able to work outside in all weather conditionsincluding sun, rain, wind, and extreme heat/cold for extended periods
Has exceptional decision-making, risk management, and customer service skills, an astute attention to detail and the ability to work calmly under pressure
Possesses a team oriented attitude, punctuality, professionalism, and desire to help others (guest and peer alike)
Ability to easily adapt to changing needs and requirements
Takes direction and responsibility for task initiation and completion
1+ year of supervisory / management experience preferred
Must have or be able to attain IL BASSET prior to start of the season
Must have or be able to attain Lifeguard / First Aid certificationprior to start of the season
SCHEDULING AND STAFFING:
The Lake Rentals Supervisor is a seasonal PT position that will require Thursday - Monday commitment between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Must be able to work weekends in the Fall
Ideal candidates will be available through the end of October
