Overview Christine Costa Interiors is a boutique residential and commercial interior design studio based in Redondo Beach, CA, with projects throughout Los Angeles and beyond. We are currently seeking a Design Assistant to support our team across all phases of design on new construction, major home renovations and FFE. The position will work fluidly across architectural interiors and FF&E, supporting the Design Principal, Architectural and FFE designers with logistics, construction drawings, materials sourcing, order/vendor management, studio marketing and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is highly organized, eager to expand their experience across all aspects of working in an interior design studio, fluent in AutoCAD, interior residential building codes, 3D spacial design and a good understanding of materials and their properties. This is an entry level role with 1-3 years experience, or equivalent experience in schooling and internships, that has the potential to grow into a junior designer role based on performance. You will play a central role on our design team in bringing projects to life from concept to installation. We are a small close-knit team. This is a dynamic position that will touch all phases of design – including design concepting and development, materials specification, construction documentation, and project management across workrooms, job sites, showrooms and trade relationships. We are looking for someone who is conceptual but also thrives in the details, while interacting with team members, clients, vendors and trades with grace, patience and kindness. Full time, hourly 30-40 hours per week , 1-3 years of experience, salary commensurate with experience. Location: Redondo Beach, CA. Must be able to work from our Redondo Beach offices. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Play a core role in residential renovations, design and decoration projects from concept to installation Implement creation of technical drawings in AutoCAD, including as-builts, space plans, electrical and finish plans, millwork and cabinetry detailing, construction set detailing and specification schedules. Research, source, and coordinate materials and furnishings with vendors and workrooms Coordinate sample pick ups, vendor meetings, and manage materials library Schedule meetings, build project timelines and support Design Principal with administrative tasks Take notes during site visits and client meetings Maintain organized project documentation, weekly project trackers, action lists, and digital task tracking Support FFE designer in pricing and proposal creation, order tracking and Purchase Order management. Contribute fresh ideas and creativity to elevate our firm’s work, as well as support marketing and social media communications to showcase the studio and our work QUALIFICATIONS 1-3 years experience in an interior design studio or equivalent in educational instruction and internships. Some experience in Studio Designer (or similar), Canva, and like tools. Fluent in AutoCAD Natural problem solver and independent thinker who is highly detailed, resourceful and logistics oriented Team player who is a natural people person and can maintain grace and calm under pressure Comfortable working in high-end, luxury environments Natural love of visual content and social media platforms, a plus COMPENSATION This is a full-time, hourly W2 position with 30-40 hours per week expected. Potential to grow into a junior designer role, based on performance.
