A well-established Louisiana defense firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its team in either New Orleans or Lafayette. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with at least three years of litigation experience who is looking for a long-term role with a respected firm, strong case exposure, and competitive compensation.

The ideal candidate will have a background in insurance defense, casualty defense, civil litigation, workers’ compensation, toxic tort, premises liability, or related defense work. Candidates with more extensive experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

• Handle a caseload involving insurance defense and general civil litigation matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, reports, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare case strategy in coordination with partners and senior attorneys.
• Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and court appearances as needed.
• Communicate with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
• Manage deadlines, discovery, and case progression from intake through resolution.
• Support trial preparation and participate in litigation strategy.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active Louisiana law license in good standing.
• Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience; insurance defense experience strongly preferred.
• Strong writing, research, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced litigation environment.
• Experience with depositions, motion practice, hearings, and client reporting preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary range of $125,000 – $160,000, depending on experience.
