Under the supervision of the Crime Analyst Supervisor, the Crime Analyst (CA) I in the Investigative Database Services Section’s Stolen Vehicles Unit performs specialized research associated with the Stolen Vehicle System/Automated Boat System (SVS/ABS). The CA I reviews entries made by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in the SVS/ABS for completeness, verifies the reporting requirements are met, and analyzes information to correct inaccurately reported information. Uses a variety of resources to analyze and resolves errors and provides assistance to LEAs with complex database system entries. Researches and analyzes SVS/ABS records, defines search parameters, and conducts special searches for LEAs for investigative and record purposes. The CA I validates the information of a variety of vehicles, vessels, parts, plates and analyzes the issues resulting from errors of vehicles that are stored, impounded, repossessed or associated with a missing person maintained within the SVS/ABS. Additionally, the CA I assists with testing database functionality as necessary. Works with LEAs to ensure compliance with Criminal Justice Information System and Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Crime Information Center’s policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.

This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
